Hyams Advances in 1500-m

Samuel Hyams had quite the weekend as he won his second event of the meet during the 1500-m race at the USATF Pacific Association Championships at Granada High School on Sunday while advancing to the next round in two weeks with a time of 4:13.02.

Hyams had little competition and led from start to finish as he easily won the event while cruising into the finish by over 13 seconds as Stephen Avilia placed second with a time of 4:26.79 followed by Alex Stone (4:27.94).

For Hyams, this gave him a weekend sweep in both the 5,000-m and 1,500m races. Although his goal was to break 4:00, he will attempt to do it with more competition to help carry him throughout the race.

He can qualify for Nationals on July 11-13 at the Pacific Association Region 14 Championships at Granada High School in Livermore, CA.
