6/09/2008

Starr Roberts won both the 100-m dash and the 200-m dash at the Minnesota Open at Hamline University on Sunday. For Roberts, this was his first sweep in the sprints since the Payton Jordan Invitational.

Roberts easily plowed through his competition in the 100-m with a time of 10.70 while second Ethan Mignard took second with a time of 11.01.

In the 200-m dash, Roberts ran a 21.18 on route to winning the event. For Roberts, he had hoped to hit 20.75 and qualify for the Olympic Trials. His goal remains to hit the qualifying mark within the month. Mignard placed second with a time of 21.82.

“I am not upset about hitting the Olympic Trials mark, I am just happy that practice is finally starting to show up in meets,” said Roberts. “I’ve gained a lot of my confidence back and run again on the 28th [June] so my goal remains to break 21 seconds for the season.”
