Michael Burkholder serves as the clubs Director of Public Relations and Webmaster. He is a Foothill High Schoo and Las Positas College graduate.

In college, Burkholder was the editor at the Las Positas Express where he helped turn the newspaper into an award winning paper. The paper won “General Excellence” under Burkholder’s lead as well as his many other individual awards including a first place finish in “column writing”, third place in “Sports story” and multiple other “honorable mentions”.

Burkholder then led the development of the Las Positas College Athletics website as well as his own sports website.

Since 2005, Burkholder has been with Athenian Athletics covering all the clubs media coverage and website updating. Burkholder has a passion for marketing and public relations as well as working with the areas youth.

To get a deeper feel and education about track and field, he took a nine month trip out to Michigan to work with the University of Michigan men and women’s track and field programs. During meets he also ran their brand new scoreboard under the direction of Head Coaches Ron Warhurst and James Henry.

In Michigan, he viewed first hand of how World Class Athletes trained everyday and what it takes to be successful in terms of physical ability, mental willingness to overcome the pressure and how to strategically run a race. It allowed him to dive into the sport to one, better cover it, and two, understand the mind set of champions.

Burkholder has been vocal in promoting track and field and fitness as well as blowing the whistle on an aspect of the sport that is not deemed appropriate or harmful to the sport.

Within the last year, he has been a producer for a snow sports company and currently works with the City of Fremont in the Recreation Department.
